PilotLegis RPG
("PilotLegis") is not an insurer;
nor is it an insurance product.
PilotLegis consists of a team of mid-sized
law firms working together to purchase professional liability insurance
through a risk purchasing structure.
Formed in 1990, PilotLegis is an independent
member-controlled entity that leverages the Group’s power in the commercial
insurance marketplace to provide security and stability of insurance
to its membership. As a Group, it is the membership that influences
the process.
The Membership:
|
Decides which firms become PilotLegis members in
much the same way as your firm decides which lawyers are invited
to join your firm. By joining PilotLegis, firms
are associating with others of equal caliber. Only well-managed,
mid-sized firms that participate in our risk management process
are acceptable for membership.
|
| |
|
Selects its own insurance advisors. Member firms,
not insurance agents run the program.
|
| |
|
Deals with its insurers, directly. This creates an opportunity
for the membership to have regular contact with underwriters and
to control the flow of information between underwriters and individual
firms.
|
| |
|
Significantly influences the program’s form with respect to (a)
the basic policy offered to the group and (b) the tailoring
of that policy to meet the special needs of individual firms.
